Standard voice OpenAI's voice model. The quickest replies and the most natural back and forth: it keeps listening while it talks, so you can cut in the way you would with a person. Its accent is not Australian. Local accent A real Australian or New Zealand voice from ElevenLabs. Replies a little slower, and when you talk over it, it stops rather than listening along.

As at 1 October 2026, on the same test questions, the Standard voice starts answering about half a second sooner than the Local accent, and handles being talked over more naturally. The Local accent greets you sooner, because it reads a fixed opening line. Try both and tell us which you would put on your phone.
